Central bank criticizes offers of extra servicing when insuring

MOSCOW, Jun 18 (PRIME) – Forcing Russians to purchase additional services when selling insurance is unacceptable, the central bank said in a statement on Friday.

"Sometimes agents of insurers (banks, car dealers and other intermediaries) offer additional products and services to the consumers when selling insurance, not related directly to insurance, for instance, legal services," the statement read.

According to the central bank, the additional services cost much more than the insurance but the purchase is formalized in a single transaction. Companies misinform people and sell insurance not covering chronic diseases to the disabled people or promise better loan terms on condition of purchase of two insurances.

The central bank asked the insurers to adjust their business models.
